Javadhu Hills

Javadhu Hills, one of the largest in the Eastern Ghats, is located near Vellore. These hills call out to those of us with a keen sense of adventure and deep love for nature in its pristine form. Located at a 3.5 hrs drive from Chennai, the hills promise treks through dense forests laced with jungle rivers.

Bisected by the Cheyyar and Agaram rivers (tributaries of the Paalar), these hills are full of bluish gray granites, with peaks averaging 3,600–3,800 feet (1,100–1,150 m). Their steep south-eastern flanks are dense with sandalwood trees. As we trek uphill, the panoramic view is dotted with quaint little tribal hamlets alongside millet fields.

There is also the probability of sighting bisons as we go further up. And though the trek can get a little tiring, you can cool your heels at the Beemanmadvu Waterfalls and many other unnamed rivulets.

What more can you ask for from a trek?
