One-Trip to Malaiyur

For the energetic students of Sivakasi Nadar School, Madurai, ecologin is organizing a one-day trip to Malaiyur.

Malaiyur is a picturesque village in the Perumalai hill ranges of Dindigul District, Tamilnadu. Peru Malai hills is part of the Sirumalai range of Eastern Ghats, and the natural vegetation comprises dry forests. The village hamlet of Malaiyoor has around 200 families, and is a very homogenous community with unique social norms and customs.

Rough Itinerary:

7:30am – Start from School
9:30am – Reach Ellapparai (Ponnalagan will be waiting there)
11:30 – Reach Malaiyur
11:30 to 12:30 - Trek to Peak
12:30 to 1:30 - Lunch
1:30 to 2:00 – Discussion about Malaiyur.
2:00 to 2:30 – Group Games
3:30pm – Reach Ellapparai
6:00pm – Reach Madurai

Chinna Chinna Aasai is a 5-day summer camp offering for school students, jointly organised by ecoLogin and Ignite Minds. The camp from 23rd to 27th May 2011 in Nadukuppam, Chennai, will be a residential camp for children of Std 7 to Std 9(aged 12 -14).

Chinna Chinna Aasai aims to:

  • identify and fine-tune their innate creative talents
  • equip them with skills, techniques and tools for creative expression – through stories, photographs and movies
  • be alert and alive to their neighbourhood
  • understand and appreciate nature and society.

The content generated by the participants will be published in an appropriate media format – for instance an e-book/ book, a website/blog, a photo story or a movie. It will also be made available online at the ecoLogin website.
